A Movement Medicine workshop

with Kate Abolins and Eve Howard

You are invited to spend the day deepening in the resource of movement, music and community. Remembering our elemental nature, our bodies as Earth.

"Abundance... is the kind of feeling you get when you are in communion with the natural, in communion with the source....It is the kind of fullness you get by being with other people." –Malidoma Patrice Somé

It can be complex to process the reality of living in a destabilising world, whilst still trying to keep everything life asks of us afloat.  More than ever we need each other – and we need our embodied selves to meet each other with.

In this workshop we will be awakening the dancer and exploring MM practices to stay rooted and inclusive with ourselves; in relationship, in challenge, in exploration and in joyful exuberance.  Grounded in our centre we can be nourished, resourced by the dance that comes to meet us. Seeing and being seen by each other, in our freedom and our tenderness, allowing more ease, more vitality, more soul to live and dance between us. From this place of soul restoration, we can ask our dancer, what medicine is ours to give and receive as resource for a mad world?

"The spiritual thirst that is latent in everybody can never come to a place of fulfillment unless people begin to think of each other as potential brothers and sisters."

–Malidoma Patrice Somé

Eve Howard: Eve is a trained contemporary dancer whose main practice has been Movement Medicine since 2017. Her devotion to dance as a creative healing art is grounded in her fascination with ritual and the role of movement in self-development. She works as a dramatherapist with children and teaches movement on a postgraduate therapy training.

Kate Abolins: I have found such a deep resource in Movement Medicine practice and community its been a joy to share it with dancers in Oxford. My approach to facilitation is tender, sensitive and celebratory, rooted in the spirit of community and the creativity that flows through human connection. I am a shiatsu practitioner and yoga teacher with a background in the Arts.
